Bukhman Philanthropies announces $500,000 partnership with Koko to expand access to free, evidence-based mental health support

September 18, 2026

Bukhman Philanthropies is delighted to announce a new $500,000 partnership with Koko to help reach more young people in moments of crisis and expand access to free, evidence-based mental health support.

Young people are increasingly turning to AI platforms and digital spaces for emotional support. This shift presents both urgent risks and significant opportunities. With the right evidence, safeguards and delivery models, technology can help ensure that young people receive timely, appropriate support at the moments they need it most.

Through this partnership, Bukhman Philanthropies will support Koko’s work to strengthen how AI can be used responsibly to support youth mental health at scale. The funding will help Koko continue developing and delivering evidence-based interventions designed to reach young people online, where many are already seeking help.

The partnership forms part of Bukhman Philanthropies’ wider commitment to understanding AI’s impact on youth mental health and supporting work that helps make digital environments safer, more thoughtful and more supportive for children and young people.

Daria Bukhman, Co-Founder and Chair of Bukhman Philanthropies, said:

“Young people are already turning to digital spaces for emotional support, often in moments of real vulnerability. We need to understand how to meet them there safely, responsibly and effectively. Koko’s work is focused on reaching people at the moment they need help, and I am pleased to support their efforts to expand access to evidence-based support
for young people online.”

Together, Bukhman Philanthropies and Koko are working towards a future in which every young person struggling online can access support that is timely, safe and effective.
