A multi-year partnership and a grant of £522,793 will fund three interconnected programmes at the core of our organisational strategy: research, education, and direct support.
Young People’s Report is a major national research study exploring the intersection of AI, technology, social media and young people’s mental health. The study will generate a current and comprehensive evidence base into how digital environments are shaping young people’s wellbeing and identity. Findings will be shared with schools, policymakers and stakeholders in technology, and will directly inform our programme delivery.
Digital Ambassadors programme will train students in secondary schools to become peer leaders in digital wellbeing and online safety. Ambassadors receive specialist training in digital literacy, online harms, AI-related risks, mental health strategies and leadership.
The support services provide free, confidential counselling to young people who face significant barriers to accessing statutory or private mental health care. Last year Ditch the Label delivered over 5,000 hours of support. 93.8% of young people told us their problem was fully or mostly resolved, with 100% reporting significant improvement in their mental health.
Dominic Arnall, CEO of Ditch the Label, said: “This partnership marks a pivotal moment for Ditch the Label and the young people we support. Bukhman Philanthropies share our belief that young people deserve not just support in their most difficult moments, but also to be emboldened and given the opportunities they need to thrive and build positive futures. Together, we are going to make a real difference, and we are hugely grateful for Bukhman Philanthropies’ support and partnership.”
Daria Bukhman, co-founder and chair of Bukhman Philanthropies, said: “This partnership represents a meaningful commitment to supporting young people as they navigate an increasingly complex digital world. At Bukhman Philanthropies, we believe that improving mental health outcomes requires a combination of strong evidence, accessible support, and empowering young people with the tools to thrive. Ditch the Label’s work brings these elements together - from research and education to direct support - and we are proud to partner with them to help build safer, more supportive digital environments and brighter futures for young people.”
